About Us
The UT Dallas Black Faculty & Staff Alliance Employee Resource Group (BFSA-ERG), was founded in Fall 2017. The BFSA serves as a resource and support system for Black and African-American student groups and student leaders.
Mission
The Black Faculty and Staff Alliance (BFSA) aims to advance a diverse and welcoming work environment with a particular focus on Black & African-American current and future employees, and students. Working through a dedicated network of professionals, the BFSA undertakes internal and external activities to attract, retain, empower, and inspire Black & African-American employees. These efforts are geared toward helping Black faculty and staff members achieve their fullest potential across the spectrum of professional development and employment opportunities at UT Dallas.
Standing Committees
Professional Development
This committee is charged with creating both formal and informal learning opportunities to enhance career growth for alliance members.
Recruiting & Retention & Collaboration
This committee will support programming initiatives and services affecting the recruitment and retention of alliance membership to both faculty and staff. This committee will advise and makes recommendations to the appropriate constituents and coordinates campus-wide recruitment and retention initiatives.
Social & Community (Engagement) Committee
This committee is responsible for facilitating both social and community service events/opportunities for the campus and community at large.
Public Relations & Communication Committee
The role of the public relations committee is to create and implement a plan to tell the Black Faculty & Staff Alliance’s story to other faculty and staff and promote the ERG’s projects and activities. This committee is charged with administering the association’s internet website, social media, member newsletter, and advertising, in conjunction with the executive board members.
Adhoc Committees
Scholarships Committee
This committee is charged with fundraising and distribute scholarships to staff and faculty who are advancing their education and professional development/training. The committee will work integrally with the treasurer to ensure fiscal responsibility and transparency.
Signature Program Committee
This committee will be responsible for the execution of the annual signature program. The purpose of the signature program is to contribute to University recruitment, retention and graduation efforts, as well as provide a community service outlet for members.
Fundraising Committee
This committee will work with the executive officers to define the short-term and long-term funding needs of the ERG and plan funding activities for the ERG. This committee will encourage the participation of the general membership in fundraising.
