
About Us
The UT Dallas Black Faculty and Staff Alliance Employee Resource Group (BFSA ERG) was founded in fall 2017 to serve as a resource and support system for employee members and students. Membership is open to all UT Dallas employees.
Mission
The Black Faculty and Staff Alliance (BFSA) aims to advance a welcoming work environment with a particular focus on Black and African-American employees and students. Working through a dedicated network of professionals, the BFSA undertakes internal and external activities to retain, empower and inspire employee members. These efforts are geared toward helping employee members achieve their fullest potential across the spectrum of opportunities and professional development at UT Dallas.
Standing Committees
Professional Development
This committee is charged with creating both formal and informal learning opportunities to enhance career growth for BFSA employee members.
Recruiting, Retention & Collaboration
This committee will support programming initiatives and services affecting the recruitment and retention of BFSA membership.
Social & Community Engagement Committee
This committee is responsible for facilitating both social and community service events/opportunities for the campus and community at large.
Public Relations & Communication Committee
The role of the public relations committee is to create and implement a plan to tell the Black Faculty and Staff Alliance’s story and promote the ERG’s projects and activities. This committee is charged with administering the association’s internet website, social media, member newsletter and advertising, in conjunction with the executive board members.
Adhoc Committees
Scholarships Committee
This committee is charged with fundraising and distributing scholarships to staff and faculty who are advancing their education and professional development. Scholarships are not restricted on race, color or national origin. The committee will work integrally with the treasurer to ensure fiscal responsibility and transparency.
Fundraising Committee
This committee will work with the executive officers to define the short-term and long-term funding needs of the ERG and plan funding activities for the ERG. This committee will encourage the participation of the general membership in fundraising.
